Description
There are several reasons why Elemite is especially effective for use as a soil amendment: it is highly
paramagnetic, dramatically improves CEC and contains an abundance of rare trace minerals.
Paramagnetism:
Most people are not familiar with the terms: paramagnetic and diamagnetic. These are weak upward
and downward forces respectively, which aid sap flow in plants. The high paramagnetic qualities of
Elemite prevent plugging of the vessels used in transporting water and nutrients via sap. This allows
easier movement of vital resources from roots to stems and leaves. That is why Citrus Decline, Peach
Tree Short Life Syndrome and other sap related diseases of trees have been successfully treated using
Elemite.
CEC:
The most useful statistic on most soil tests is the CEC (cation exchange capacity). This measures the
overall "fertility" of soil in terms of the ability to freely exchange nutrients. The most productive soils in
the world can yield 2 or 3 high quality harvests in a given year. These soils have a high CEC (20 or more)
vs. low CEC soils (less than 10) that may only produce 1 meager crop over the same time span. Elemite
has shown a CEC in the 20-30 range.
Trace Minerals:
Soil scientists agree that at least 15 essential nutrients are needed by plants. Chemical fertilizers and
conventional agriculture focus almost exclusively on nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. After
decades of failing to replace the other dozen nutrients, most soils are now depleted. That is why the use
of Elemite will produce dramatic improvements in growth, reproduction and overall health by adding
back the rare earth elements and trace minerals such as: boron, chlorine, cobalt, copper, iron,
manganese, molybdenum and zinc. To underscore the importance of these nutrients, a fruit tree
cannot bloom without at least one part per million of boron.
Additional Notes:
Elemite is classified as a non-swelling Montmorillonite Clay. It was created millions of years ago by the
combination of volcanic vents and a freshwater lake. The result was a pinkish grey rock formation that
contains many rare nutrients. Elemite contains 66 chemical elements, including a balanced ratio of all
nutrients required by plants, animals and microbes.
Elemite is the name of a special rock in Utah. Early this century geological prospector Rollin Anderson found deposits of montmorillonite clay in a valley south of Salt Lake City. U.S. Bureau of Mines analysis showed the clay is similar to Chilean/Peruvian caliche rocks from which much of the worlds nitrate was mined. Anderson ground montmorillonite as fine as possible, then put it in his garden. Results were amazing and nearly immediate. Minerals in Elemite Organic Soil Amendment are necessary to optimal metabolism in living things. Ground to dust, trace minerals are small enough to pass through cell walls of organisms.
Elemite Trace Mineral Organic Soil Amendment is natural mined rock from a specific volcanic deposit in central Utah marketed as a free-flowing, less than 200 mesh, tan to pink powder with a density of 48 lbs./cu ft. No additives, synthetics or fillers. Mineralogically, Elemite is rhyolitic tuff breccia. Elemite has 66 major and trace elements. Typical analysis shows every element thats beneficial to plants animals, and other elements scientists believe essential. Crop farmers report improved growth, health, size. Potatoes report 19-60% increase in yield; sugar beets are larger, with higher sugar content. Citrus growers report improved recovery from decline, healthier trees.
FAQ
General application guidelines:
Elemite can be applied in liquid or dry form, depending on the weather and equipment. To increase
surface area and absorption we micronized it from rock to a very fine powder. We recommend combing
Elemite with water to lower dust and help work it into the soil faster. If you apply it dry make sure to
avoid windy conditions that will scatter Elemite before it has a chance to be absorbed into the soil.
The best time to apply Elemite is during plowing or prior to planting. However, it can be used yearround
to build up and remineralize soils. The initial application rates are listed below. An annual followup
application is recommended at half the initial quantity used.
Liquid - For home or greenhouse use, mix Elemite and water in a bucket. Make sure to stir vigorously
before applying and add more water as needed.
Dry - Sprinkle Elemite around the base of plants. Pour enough water on top to work it into the soil.
Suggested Application Rates:
Row and field Crops:
Corn, Wheat, alfalfa: 400 pounds/acre
Sugar Beets, Potatoes: 500 pounds/acre
Apply with a standard phosphate spreader making sure to adjust the air pressure to avoid potential
clogging.
Citrus, trees and shrubs:
On existing plants apply 1 pound of Elemite per inch of trunk diameter. Sprinkle Elemite evenly from the
trunk to the drip line, then pour on water. For older plants or those that show signs of disease you may
double the application rate.
Newly planted trees and shrubs should get 1-2 pounds of Elemite depending on soil quality and plant
size. Be sure to work Elemite into the root zone and add plenty of water.
Vegetables and potted plants: Onions, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.
In pots mix 1 ounce of Elemite per gallon of potting soil. For outdoor use apply 1 pound of Elemite per
10 square feet of garden.
